Help please, Im a n00b
 

Hi,

Ive tryed to follow the readme exactly, but everytime I do it ends up not working...Anyone have a good readme they can post here that a n00b like me can follow easially?

I downloaded these files

EQemu 2.3
Mysql 3.23
EQadmin
EQHost
EQW 2.2

And failed at the readme...also...a question or 2....Do I have to have Mysql to use EQemu? and do I need to use gotfrags network thingymajig? Any help would be appreciated...thanks =)

Also, this was the readme I was using/trying to follow, just incase you tell me to read the readme....

first, you are slightly out of synch. you need eqw 2.2.1. There is a link to it somewhere.

you first step is getting a connection to the login server gotfrags. This is the easiest thing to do and it only involves two steps:
-getting a gotfrags account
-changing the eqhost.txt to point to gotfrags

The reason why I don't give step-by-step instructions is that it removes "thinking".

The next step for setting up your own server is installing mysql. Follow their installation instructions.

Then decide if you want a "local only" or "Internet accsessible" server.

I posted an excellent outline today about the major things you need to do. It's in the Win32 support section.

It could also be the fact the the Gotfrags server has been down for some time now. There has been alot of trouble running the emu since the latest live patch from sony/verant. Which is a pain in the ass for everyone involved.

I will try to re-write the readme for 0.2.4. Although that readme will work (other than the fact u cant use latest patch untill 0.2.4 comes out and the commands are a little off).

The readme included with the EMU works totally fine, but only if you do exactly what it says.

Is version 2.4 going to have any Npcs in it or the ability to sell items and or fight monsters?

A) NPCs are a db-related thing. The Emu reads the db and creates them.. if your server has no NPCs.. well there's none in the db!

B) Selling items was working before 2/13, and they're trying to recode it. But the answer is yes

C) We can already fight monsters..
