Question on EQ EMU
Ok. I hope I'm posting in the correct Forum...(probably not though)
Anyway, my question is this. Is it possible with EQ-EMU to create new zones? or signifigantly edit existing zones? I've been trying to read the documentation to find this out and I've searched the boards but have been unable to find this out. Can anyone answer this? And if you can could you explain (or point me to the documentation that does) how to edit/create new zones? Thanks, Sandabus :D |
Anything's possible on the client, but you would have a LOT of work ahead of you. It isn't easy, it doesn't take small amounts of time even once you've hacked the format. If you ask me, it's not worth it to try. If anyone has made any progress towards altering client, I don't think they'd be past 1% of the way.

Well...I didn't ask anything about changing the CLIENT.
I asked if it was possible to change the ZONE information and custom edit them or create new ones. I have zero interest in changing the actual client. |
You can change some of the content of the zones. If you have loaded the db.sql that came with the emu but nothing else hten you have your starting point. Actually delete the doors from the sql file and that is your sarting point. From that you can create spawns, doors, some items listed in the doors table, reacently ground spawns were added to the emu. Remember that spawns are limited to the models in the global files, and that zone file. likewise for doors and items.
You can give the zone a different name, and enviroment setting (sky, weather, and a few other things) With the different name, you can reuse the base zone. This is of limited use, and not simple because you can't create new zone lines, you must reuse existing ones. Or do quests to enter and exit the zone. |
