"This zone is unavailable." -- MiniLogin

After following the directions in the readme file, I finally got as far as the character select screen. Okay, create character, blah blah Chukulak, character made. Select character, Enter World.

This zone is unavailable.

Okay, maybe there's just something up with Cabilis. Try again, wood elf ranger in GFay.

This zone is unavailable.

Now, what's wrong?

EDIT: Nevermind, I was probably just doing something stupid. I got it working. Hooray for Chukulak the Inept Monk and Valkyr the Savior! :D

I have it now too

I'm getting this error now too, everything works fine except for when I create my character and try to login it says this zone is currently unavailable. I'm using minilogin so I can play on my own server.

On another note I can log onto gotfrags servers just fine.

Im having the same problem too.
I cant get online all that often, I share the line with multiple people.. id love to play with the emulator more, but i cant get past creating a character... 'zone unavailable'
ive tried 1 of every race/class... same problem.

Ive tried nearly everything i could think of.

it would really make my day to figure out this problem

h37lion 03-17-2002 08:38 PM

Well, to update the problem for me
I talked to a few people in #eqemu on irc.trifocus.net
and all that ended up being the problem for me was
the fact that i put a username/pass in the loginserver.ini file
once i took them out and left them blank, boom it works.

thanks again shawn!

Still have this problem

I still have this problem at the moment, with the zone is unavailble error, I have tried every possible thing with IP adresses and local host settings there are in the ini files. No luck yet, please help.

Shawn319 03-18-2002 02:17 AM

Realm's problem fixed... cause: used wrong zone.exe for his OS.. DOH

Baltar 03-18-2002 06:19 AM

I heard some people resovled the zone unavailable problem by changing there startzone variable. Try changing it from Qeynos to another short name.

h37lion 03-18-2002 12:10 PM

my strange problem was that I need to have an active internet connection just long enough for my zonserver to connect to my worldserver. If an active internet connection isn't available, I get initworldserver errors, and my server remains on permanent LOCK on the serverlist, and all zones are unavailable.

after many clean installations, with several different configurations, this still remains a constant 'fix' to this problem for me.. so possibly may fix the problem for others, hopefully =]

Baltar 03-18-2002 12:21 PM

are you using 127 or ext ip in zone.bat?

Baltar 03-18-2002 12:21 PM

is should clarify...For you world server addy are you using 127 or ext ip

strychn 03-18-2002 12:25 PM

yeah, if you use an internet ip, that would explain it.
if you use the loopback ip(127.0.0.1) it should work fine.

h37lion 03-18-2002 09:29 PM

nope.. i use 127.0.0.1 for the host.. and it still requires an active internet connection to connect the zoneserver... very strange

Shawn319 03-18-2002 10:12 PM

try using localhost as the IP

h37lion 03-21-2002 01:06 PM

To update this, I change any instance of 127.0.0.1 to localhost

now, if i boot up... and wait

first
minilogin.exe

world.exe

boot5zones.win9x.bat

then wait.. they all connect to each other, while being completely offline. Thanks Shawn.. whatever I did, it worked.

'zone unavailable' problem has been fixed. The key is just the patience to sit there and wait for a while for the servers to connect to each other before loading eqgame.exe patchme.

Shawn319 03-21-2002 10:26 PM

ahh yes i get that too. everything takes a few secs to connect to each other...
