Looks like the FAQ board is finally getting on it's feet, I'll leave there here for now, but start relying on that board.

FAQ

1)
Q) When I run the patcher, the files download to the wrong folder, what's going on?
A) Run the patcher from a shortcut. Make sure the shortcut is set up to run in the folder that you want the files downloaded to. Also, make sure you tell the patcher to install to your everquest directory, IT IS NOT DEFAULTED TO INSTALL TO THAT DIRECTORY.

Q) EQW goes black after the first screen. What's wrong?
A) Run EQW 2.32. The Latest version will not work with EQemu. Because it changes the screen res, it crashes itself. This doesn't happen in 2.32.

Q) When Patching, patchsrv.dat cannot be found...?
A) That is a patcher connection file. This happens when ports are blocked, either by you (firewall) or by your internet provider. Either unblock ports 7000, 5999, 5998, and 9000, or you'll have problems. If caused by your ISP, contact them and ask them to open those ports.

Q) When creating a Local/Lan/my own server, I get an access denied error. Problems can be seen when running world.exe.
A) Usually caused by failing to give the access grant correctly in MYSQL. Use the DOS and run MYSQL using this command line:
mysql.exe --user=root eq
Then use this line or a variation of it:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'user'@127.0.0.1 IDENTIFIED BY 'password' WITH GRANT OPTION;
User and password is for the administrator, the one you created for winmysqladmin.exe. Ref: http://forums.eqemu.net/viewtopic.ph...create+account

Q) 1017?
A) Run Everquest a few times before you set it up for EQEmu to update all the files. Then, run the EQEmu patcher to downgrade the few files that must be downgraded. This is the most common fix.

Q) I start EQW and stuff but it just says cannot detect eqw.dll or something (from below).
A) Install eqw 2.32 from aguest03, it has the dll file in it...extract all the files to the directory.

problem with patcher
 

I tried everything from removing all Firewall, removing router. But i can't connect to the eqemu patcher. can someone help me? I'm using win XP, and i checked connection, it says link to cyberjunk.net:established. But nothing happened after that.

I believe cyberjunk.net host the patch

Is this an MDAC problem? I don't know because I've always had SP1 installed with XP. Let me know guys.

Cant connect to any Servers!
 

Could i get some help? I get to the Server select, and hit Enter world, but then my Desktop mouce unlocks and EQ Freezes for a sec, then it Unfreezes and it says, Cannot establish a connection, Repatch repedeatly. i dont know what to do, Nothing on forums or anything

That's not the mdac problem - he/she'd get a runtime error. See sig for other fixes.

Elanvor, I haven't seen that one before, but that's because I don't have problems patching anymore. What you should probably do after you've removed firewall and router is contact your ISP and ask if they have proxies running, and if they could disable them.

If they can't/won't, try another ISP (Like AoHell) and use the 1000000 free minutes to download the patch and never again update that to eqlive.

i'm experiencing same prob that elanvor got WinXP too and I'm not using a proxy server

maybe you're not, maybe your ISP is, didn't you read guest's post? Call them up and bitch. Last time I called mine up, my bandwidth "magically" doubled. ;-)

Can I get some help here? When I run patch.exe/EQEMU Patcher I get "run-time error '430':
Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface" have tried patching, nothing in forum, followed directions to the letter, yet still happens ??? :confused:

Download, run mdac_typ.exe from link in my sig.

I cant even get in.

I keep getting the 1017 error at the server select screen, i dont understand what you guys have said about putting stuff in to fix this problem. If anyone could send me detailed instructions on how to fix this at blind3345@aol.com i would appreciate it, or if you could post here i will come back to read it. Thanks

Where do u place the files for when you upate? So i can fix all of the bugs and what not.

I'm having the same problem as adam with the eqw.dll

I've mooched enough on this board i thought I'd try to help a bit.

I tried that Grant Option command an insane number of times and never got it to work. Found something buried in another section of this site that said not use *.* but rather databasename.* where databasename is your sql database. Mine would be eq.*

This worked instantly and everything worked until the server login 1017ed me. That's as far as I've gotten but I thought I'd try to help in case someone else was having a similar problem.

For eqw problem, redownload eqw and install into your eq directory. Available from link in sig.
