Re-Creating Vallon Zek Question
 

I am (trying) to get a server up and have alot of RL friends who want me to do this. We are from the Vallon Zek server on EQ Live and I am thinking about making another team based PvP server. EQ Live one is Vallon Zek, if I named Mine Vallon-Zek with a - in it would that be a copy right problem or could I get in the shiznit with Sony for that?


I figure its the name of a God and me naming the server after a god should be find and the name isnt the same Vallon-Zek

This server would be team based. 2 teams - good vs evil team legit.

Good idea! Sounds like it would be fun. Not sure about the copywrite laws though... :?

Since your going to be using all of their items and mobs most likely, I don't think i would worry too much about the server name...

Well what I have been thinking is keeping it (at first) original lands but having all the xpanions enabled but the new zones locked out. I figure till I get a population up I dont need to have that much land cause itll thin out the population to much but at the same time I want to have the new character models enabled etc.

I am hoping I can have all xpansions enabled but have Kunark, Luclin and PoP zones perma locked till I finish the MAIN world ... this lets me give the players the new character models etc. THEN once I finish the main world, if the population is large enuff, I begin work on Kunark, then later rinse repeat depending on population size.

Vallon Zek or as I would name it Vallon-Zek would be built as my old home server, memories are still there and I had so much fun there. That server build such a time line it was unreal, you could write volumes on it.

I would like to ressurect that server in spirit as well as name and build something special for the players to play on.

I am BRAND NEW at this hehe, I built prolly one of the BEST NWN servers online when I played NWN for a short time. I knew nothing on those type servers but I learned, same with EQemu, I hope to learn and bring up a server that is a mainline server. We shall see I guess.

Main thing is I didnt wanna get in the mix with SOE bout the server name which I DO want to have as something like .....

i played on vallon, it was a great server for awhile. I would deffinatly be playing on it if you get it up ~

Remeber how evil vs light worked? It totally sucked, 3 vs 1 was kind of hars and myself (62 ogre warrior, when i quitted) always got spanked by all the lights, so why dont u make it a 1 team playable, and all can pk all , the way Vallon was supposed to play...

says it all in a sentance. If your really worried you should change every zone name and item name to your own original name!
