Moving NPC DB assistance...
I'll be moving back home soon and will be back to slow dial-up service, so the MyWorldEQ npcmov test server will be coming down.
I am in need of a host for the server , so that I can assemble a "Team" to help get this thing completed in a timely fashion. I would like to have a complete , or nearly completed Moving NPC DB by the end of summer, but need to get a few more team members involved and have a host for the server so that all would be able to join the server and work on thier assigned zones. If anyone can assist me with hosting please PM me so we can discuss it. Anyone interested in joining the Team can also PM me and we'll try to get a method of communication set up so that all involved can be kept up to date on the progress and assignments. I am looking into a co-location set-up with my local PUD on a 100mbs fiber optic line , but since my wifes recent surgery and medical needs , I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it right away. I'm trying to figure out other ways to assemble the DB from individual zones done by team members, then reassembled as one DB , but IMHO it will be much easier to complete on a server with everyone working together. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions , please let me know. |
On the dedicated hosting, there are some good deals out there... http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ has some good user reviews, http://www.nocster.com specifically has https://secure.burst.net/orders/nocster/5.shtml where you can get a 100GB transfer server with 5 IPs for $50 a month.

Thanks alkrun, I'll go check those out.
Appreciate the tip :) |
Hmm those servers have really low CPU/RAM count , not a good idea for a EQEMu server.

To work on my own DB, I seperated the spawnentry, spawn2, and spawngroup by zone into their own directories. Next, I created grid data for each mob and assigned the grid the same number as the spawn it is for. Putting it all together is pretty easy too. I just created a couple batch files like: Build-Spawn2.bat (in the main directory that holds all the seperate zones) Code:
"type acrylia\spawn2.txt >> spawn2.sql" The final step was another batch file: Code:
spawn2.sql >> db.sql Just an idea for you... |
we have worked out a method of retrieving sinlge zone info for npcs with a batch.
crude but efficient , based on lurkers whole single zone post. Thanks Lurker :) |
I just dropped the files and an example zone onto my server here.
No docs for it, but you should have no problem figuring it out. |
thanks wolfman , i;ll check it out :)

I can host you a server if you can figure out how to run them on linux and boot them up using php (telnet is fucked).
Other then that its a perfectly good unused host I have. http://www.axxishost.com/content.php?content=1 Using: Axxis 3000 Web and server hosting~ |
