is there any way to get around the EQIM patcher, so that you can connect to EqEmu servers instead of Live servers?

yeah that would be simple... since its an EXE and all...

I sincerely doubt EQIM will work with EQEMu. I could go into "why", but I doubt anyone is interested.

There's an alternative, however. Use telnet to connect to port 9000 of the world server you want to chat on. For WinXP/2k/2k3:

Keep in mind you can only telnet to a server if you have been given access (have the password) otherwise thats out of the question!

Telnet logins are based on account - and each account has a password. It's blank by default.

Getting the IP address to connect to, on the other hand.. Takes a little bit of work if it's not given to you.

i aggree with razor, crop your name part and just use that. I am in an office with other people in it now, and i really dont want to leave this site because of any criminal punishments for lookin at poon at work. OR person who made site PLEASE kill that file

Kill that file or delete the string from your sig file.
Also PLEASE close your FTP access to that site, people can still upload to you through this:

Did EQIM really actually work?

I remember it used to crash all the time. You'd then come back to find your contacts all gone. After a dozen times, I gave up!

I never used the program myself. I can't even remember if I even seen it on the EQ site anymore. That program still out? If so, can I get a link to where it's at? I may take a look at it myself.

My brother used it recently to talk to his old guildmates. It works.
