Hmm
Heya guys,
Recently had to move, and my only connection is a 28.8 [hardware!] modem =/ However looking around on my storage box, I found all my old EQEmu stuff, so..what the heck. I cant play EQLive with a craptastic connection! So, following the instructions, and a few updated files later, World.exe, boot2zones (only need 2..) and minilogin are purring. I log in, make a char..then I'm told it cant load the zone. Back to the forums, and I'm here in the World Building forum. I've seen some interesting prospects of a Drawde/Telmet (sp?) combined DB, but I havent been able to find it. Is it still floating around out there? On the sticky thread, Drawde's DB link didnt work, but Telmet's did. In the readme it said to run the install.bat..which was nowhere to be found in the zip file. Interesting. So, my second question is, if I want to just merge Telmet into my db.sql, how do I do that? Thanks in advance |
a 28.8 connection cant support even 1 person playing because of the bandwith requirments.

Exactly..but DSL is on the way =)

i have a friend on a 56k that wants to play, but i don't know if she can. what's the minimum that is required to play eq?
|
a 56k modem should do it..however some tweaking of the datarate.txt and turning on #serverfilter should help.
|
i know a lot of people who play EQ / EQEMU on a 56k. should be fine if i little laggy. a 28.8 on the otherhand would take 4 days to get through the loading screen :P

I play EQ/EQEmu on a 56k connection, and share the connection between 2 computers, both running EQ, so 56k will work. :)

OK, I think I worked around through switching databases, I just created a new database, then sourced in the new database. Then I just changed the config file to point to the new database, allowed access w/ username and pass, and it worked.
Is that the correct way to do things? |
If it works its the right way
|
Um, just my 2cp...
I played EQ until May on a mere 26400bps connection, and am occasionally still forced to do this. Raids, no way. But most of the rest of the time its not too horrid. Purcevil |
connection has no influence on a local server wich is what he is running

even slower connection....
Used to connect and play on a 24kbps connection(bad phone lines that I couldn't do anything about) big raids were a no no but average playing was alright if you could live with slow zone times. Back in the day the same speed connection was no problem in any situation but they seemed to keep requiring more and more bandwidth to do the same job as time progressed.
