What platorm (O/S) are you trying to play on? Go to start > run and type dxdiag. Copy and paste the text into your post. You can also go to the 'display' tab and click 'test direct3d' to make sure you have a D3D-HAL. This reeks of display driver issues or unsupported hardware. What video card are you running?

I'm not sure if this appllies to you but, because I have issues with what I think is microsoft, I tend to set my hardware acceleration to None which relieves me of that problem.
To make sure your hardware acceleration is set to full, right click on your desktop, click properties from the drop down menu. It should come up with Display properties. Click the 'Settings' tab (the one in the top right hand corner of the window), Click on Advanced. When the window comes up, click the 'Troubleshoot' tab and Check what your hardware acceleration is set to. Just adding this information so that people know...this isn't very common but it can happen. |
Nvidia has fairly new drivers that you can try too ---
