To play, is patcher still required?
Sorry if this post is answered somewhere else. I couldn't find an answer in the patcher forum.
I have my family up and running on our own server, v4.3, and on Winter's Roar. We patched way back when and have not had to patch since to play. I'm trying to get a friend online now. He's installed all his EQ CDs and patched at EQLive. I told him he needed to run the EQPatcher, but he gets a "cannot connect" when he runs it. I checked the FAQs and the How To Play FAQ at http://www.everquestserver.com/forum...pic.php?t=9649 doesn't mention running the patcher. To play only, is it still necessary to run the patcher? I get the impression the patcher is now used for something else. Thanks, in advance, for clarificaton. Arley |
In order to use 5.0 servers, you must use the patcher, or so I've been led to believe. Patch to live, then run patcher.

Okay.
Anyone have a resolution for the "cannot connect to patch server" error message? Is this a port issue on my router, perhaps? Thanks, Arley |
I see you stated you are playing on Version 4.3 and on winters roar. so i am asuming you are trying to use the old patcher that put people on 4.4.....4.4 is no longer supported so that patcher dose not work.

Hmmm. I think Merths great guide needs just a tweak of updating.
I'm kinda curious if I would be better off loading the current EQLive and then using the new patcher or just use my files from a couple of EQLive patches ago, that *pretty much* seem to work. -Jerry *Pretty Much* = Worked perfect one night, then got booted quite a bit the next.... |
You dont need the EQEmu patcher for anything. Patch to live, and play.
