I doubt the install for any of the versions are going to get any easier... They are dirt simple to begin with if you ask me.. It takes me less than 5 minutes to set up a server from scratch..
You have to understand something, this is a server project, not a nice pretty point and click and it magically works tool. To be a server admin, I think you have to accept the fact that you are going to have to learn new technologies, and grit your teeth and just learn it, instead of asking for everyone to simplifiy it.
To run your own server correctly, you need to understand a few things at a minimum.
TCP Ports, IP theory
Mysql use (lots of good tutorials on this on the web)
SQL (ditto, good stuff on the web)
How to navigate in commandline mode (DOS)
Then, additionally, to be a worldbuilder you need to understand the actual database content formats (spawngroups, quest formats, etc)
Relying on tools is only going to get you so far.. Running a server is not for the faint of heart.. If you are one of those 'Ima newb, can someone explain this plllllzzzzzzzz' kinda folks, my suggestion would be that you stick to playing on an emulated server rather than running your own.
This is just my 2 cents worth..
Sorry, wasnt meant to be a rant. I've found it funny though that people that can't even use file explorer properly have asked me about how to set up a server. If you dont have the necessary
background, explaining how to use mysql is going to be a real nightmare!
Also, this post is not directed at anyone in particular, so don't think I'm flaming an indivudual..
