Default Possible fixes

I worked at an ISP for a while, so I'll take a stab at it. First, make sure you're connected to the internet before trying to update. Second, if you have a firewall, make sure it's functioning correctly. Third, check if you have DNS entries in your dial-up settings. If it's automatic from the end of your ISP, just tell them that you had a problem connecting to them (AFTER doing steps 1 & 2 and making sure it still doesn't work). They might give you numbers to just type in. If that doesn't work, I'll pluck your feathers.
