No, that shouldn't matter. If your account had an issue, you would get a message saying invalid username or password.
Possibly your ISP could be blocking ports needed to reach the login server. I know some asian ISPs do occasionally block certain things in other parts of the world.
Try going to command prompt and typing the following and see if you get a reply from the ping:

Also, you might want to try using the IP of 64.251.21.39 in your eqhost.txt file instead of using
www.eqemulator.net, just in case there is a DNS issue.
