Short of you getting an app in the app store that allowed you to sync to a PC and then install EQ to your phone via the discs its not legal.
So... like I said, wouldn't be legal, or would at least open you up for a lawsuit.

Well, the legality would depend on what country you were in when you did it. Pretty sure the US is the only country with a DMCA-like law. Also, has the legality of jailbreaking been in court yet?
I doubt Apple is too worried about people installing jailbroken apps on their phone, especially if they're not available in the itunes store and aren't malicious.
