I used that same guide a few weeks ago and it worked like a charm. Retrace your steps, it is not outdated.
If you are using SoD and MiniLogin then you will need to do one extra step by updating your opcodes.
If you are using SoF or earlier and MiniLogin then the guide is just fine.
