When trying to bypass the EQ Emu Server, by running the Everquest.exe shortcut (in my case c:\EQ\everquest.exe patchme), I'm receiving the Connection Failure Could not establish a connection. Please check your network connection or contact
eqtech@soe.sony.com.
I've tried connecting over my regular internet connection (it's kind of weird due to the network I'm on, there's a manadatory proxy server, and some other things to deal with on my way to the gateway).
I've tried connecting to a VPN, which will allow me to bypass all the weird stuff because of the tunneling, and receiving the same messages.
I tried changing my eqhost file to point to
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998
It was previously set to
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998
Oh, I can ping eqemulator.net also, so it's not physical layer or routing. I'd try to telnet to port 5998, but they took my tool away in Windows 7 *curses Microsoft*
No dice. Any more ideas?
