Thanks to you both.
I couldn't connect to any servers, besides the Verant patch server, Pneu.
But now, I am able. I figured out that the eqhost.txt file needs to be in a different layout/syntax than after you get patched. Apparently I did not run the patch a second time to get the real patch. I got all/both the patches from Verant. (which brings up a side question of "Can we get patches from EqEMU servers?")
So, Tamarae was right. Once I figured this txt file thing out, I decided to reinstall. Then I patched, then made the changes again. I played for a few minutes on a EqEMU server. Too bad you weren't around 2 days sooner (or even 2 hours sooner), Tamarae!
After trying to run it locally, I got a 1002 error of "not correct version" which I will search for answers about here. But it looks like it works to connect externally, for now.
So, I consider this 1010 problem solved. And thanks to all of you, I am verified. It was that I did not patch the first time twice. ;) And the host file was then unreadable. If I find out more, I will make a post of it to help others.
Thank again.
