*sigh*
I'm a GM from Merth's Florida. I would like to think that I was made a GM because I try to be helpful to everyone, and because I try my very best to be polite at all times. I'll admit, I'm fairly new to being a GM, but I hope I've done a good job. I've had compliments on the things I've done from players, and for zones that I, personally, have populated. So why won't some people lay off?
I populated the zones BoThunder ( my first and not my best), HoHonorB (I changed it up some, but I've had compliments for it), and Drunder (turned out quite nice). Merth allows me to play as the Gods of those zones, and as such, I have characters named Mithaniel_Marr and Rallos_Zek (the_Warlord). Yesterday, while playing as Rallos Zek for the first time, a character named Nalin comes in and begins belittling me for not being an NPC. Now, I have never attempted to hide the fact, while playing one of these characters, that I am a GM. I still perform my duties - fixing names, moving characters when they won't load, etc. I will admit, I keep anon on, and use world and zone emotes to make the experiance feel more like the player is meeting with the real god, but I still speak openly in OOC, and will answer any time someone asks for a GM. I even helped this person's friend (I assume friend since they seem to be so, being in the same "team" when they go to the Arena), and I have helped them a little when they asked for it. So why can't you let me be?
#1 EQEmu was not made to be your personal playground, it was made to allow people to enjoy Non-Sony servers for *no fee*. What the server is "supposed" to be like, is up to (dum dum daaa) the server's *Owner*. In this case, Merth.
#2 Merth, being the server's owner, is the deciding voice on that server. he has allowed me to populate those three zones as I see fit, and knows full well I like to play the part of the diety in two of them. he has seen it first hand, and saved the very mobs I put in those zones, and has never said one cross thing about what races i use for NPCs.
#3 I know Iksars don't live in HoHonorB. I like Iksars. I use HoHonorB because most people never even go there (I know, I stand there for hours on end watching for need of a GM). So, I went there, Merth let me add my favorite race (Iksars) and I operate out of that zone when the lag is high, because it is a nice small zone with few visitors.
#4 You or your friend, can't remember which, complimented my work on Drunder yesterday - populated with realistic mobs for that zone so that it could be used for hunting - and yet you still cut me no slack today. You even insult my populating of Drunder now. I thought it would be a nice touch to include two perticular NPCs who did not prior exist in PoTactics, The Avatar of War (in the pit) and Roflon Zek (Kobold leader in the first War of the Gods, ready some lore).
#5 I don't know how long you've been on this server and don't care. Merth made me a GM, and I trust his judement better than i'd trust proof from most lawers.
#6 I do not feel that I am abusing me GM abilities by #kill'ing an annoying person who is constantly badgering, taunting, teasing, and otherwise causing discomfort to me in serverwide channels. If I am wrong about my use of GM abilities, then some neutral third party who may read this, please tell me so, and I will not do it.
And lastly - If you don't like the way Merth has set up the server, if you don't like not being able to own ever last God, Player, and GM on it, then you probably don't belong there.
I am getting very frustrated by this, and I would like to see it end. I've seen players who were banned from servers for less than what you do, no joke. This is a privately owned and operated server, and the owner has allowed me to perform as a GM, and to be Gods as a choose. I enjoy it and it does not get in the way of the game moreso than if i didn't, because **the gods in question would not be there anyways as the zones were empty when I first chose to populate them**, so please just be happy that there is *anything* in that zone to begin with.
Now, i apologize if anyone is offended by any of this, as it is not meant to offend but bring into perspective a very valid and serious arguement. Thank you for your patience, I needed to get that off my chest.
