0.5.0 has many bugs right now and isn't meant for the general public. Pretty much if you don't do any C++ coding and know how to get the CVS and compile the code they don't want you messing with it yet. Or at least don't want to spend their time answering questions about it yet when they could be working on the bugs they already know about.
