Aside from that, be sure you've set up your 'eqhost.txt' in your Everquest directory to point to the EQEmu servers.

The only difference is the 5997's in your 'eqhost.txt' files as mentioned in this guide need to be changed to '5999' to play on v.5.0 servers, as exampled below:
[Registration Servers]

"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5999"
