You are given the option to donate but you aren't forced to, but it's always a good idea. I used to run counterstrike and half-life TFC servers, and isn't half as difficult as I presume this to be. Granted there are errors, but instead of complaining about them, if you can offer useful information about the problem, or even better, how to fix it, you've made the server a better place. The opposite pole holds the brownnosers, people who follow and worship the admins/devs and usually are the first to rally against someone complaining, or even a simple suggestion. Being followed doggedly and worshipped (I lack a less powerful word at the moment) is fun when you're an admin/dev, but it tends to get annoying and often extremely aggrivating when a cult of people begin yelling at one person for doing something and then you have to try to tell everyone to effecively "Shut the @#%$ up!" without sounding like an ass. Being friends with an admin is fine, but following them around and constantly pestering them wastes their time, and your time.

P.S. Articulate might be too intelligent for some users, they might mistake it for a vegetable :-p
