This post is what you'll want to read to get started with playing on the EQEMu servers.
As a side note, if you patched on or after June 22nd or 21st (around then), you'll be unable to access the login server/server select screen. In order to access the login server, you'll need to replace your eqmain.dll file in your EQ folder with a pre-patch dll file. Warez, however, is not allowed on this board, so you should refrain from asking here or in the IRC channels where to obtain that file.
