My only recommendation is to uninstall everything, reboot, and start again: and this time follow the guide carefully and step-by-step with noting the several mentioned notes on the wiki's playguide page, and using the proper Perl version (version 5.8.8.822), and be sure to use the matching peqdb and projecteqemu revisions.
Good luck. It works, so there should be no reason you can not get it to work if you follow the guide (*almost) exactly.
