Unhappy Need help installing bots

Hi everyone,

I played EQ from the first day and still love it today.

My son is getting into it on our EQEMU Server (on our LAN) but we cant do much content because we need more players.

Id love to add bots to our Server, but I have no experience on anything technical and ive looked at the eqemu github server guides but cant make head nor tail of a lot of it, it goes straight over my head.

Is there an easy way to install them, like a file you double click and it installs everything for me?

I really want to get this going for my son and I, as were at a dead end in our progression.

Hope to hear from someone, sorry im so dumb but ive never done tech stuff.

Regards,
Thorium

We have a Discord server where you're apt to get more immediate replies

[Assuming you're on windows..]

Go into your server folder and find the file eqemu_server.pl and double-click it.

At the main menu prompt (where it starts,) type setup_bots.

This will download the bot-enabled binaries as well as make the necessary database changes needed for bot functionality.

Any problems, post back or join us on our Discord server.

Everything is great, thanks for all the info.
Last question, how do I invite bots into my group?
Or is that not how we party together?

Sorry I did run through a lot of info before asking.

Thanks again,
Thorium

You have bots in player groups and botgroups.

Botgroups are special bot-only groups that you have to manually add bots to and then spawn them by botgroup.

(All bots must be spawned to either add to player group or botgroup.)

For player group bots, just..

^spawn botname

/invite botname

That's all it takes to make them active. There are even more options to help 'tune' them .. but, they will do their job as-is.

^owneroption help is a good command to take a look at.

^follow chain is a very nice feature to help keep your bots 'in-line' as opposed to a single mass of bot blobness.

^help or ^? will display a list of bot commands (most are working properly.)

The help parser accepts partial names for filtering commands.

All bot commands can be put into the client's macro system for ease of use.

OMG my son and I want to thank you for being so helpful Uleat.

We have managed to set all sorts of things up, and got our group working to a tee!!

This is amazing, im a Mage, son is a Druid and we have a War, SK, Rogue and Cleric as bots.

Weve been playing for literally 15 mins and its SO much better now having a full party.

Im sure with the awesome info youve given us, we will hone our botting skills and fine tune each of them as we progress (we started 2 new toons).

Again, we thank you Uleat, you rock sir
Regards,
Thorium (and Tylerius).
