View Full Version : Reminder about not patching

The Omens of War expansion is coming out next week. Without a doubt there'll be a big client-side patch that day too.

I just wanted to remind everyone that the 5.8 version the devs are working on is made to be compatible with the client that's currently out - as of Sat. Sept. 11. You risk breaking your ability to play on 5.8 if you patch without first backing up your folder. There is no guarantee that the utilities offered by a couple of the popular servers can fix this situation.

So, either backup your folder (in its entirety), or don't patch unless the powers that be instruct you to do so.

Moved to news because this is important and your post is pretty perfect.

Feel special, you made the news!

So yeah, since you just joined you'll have to wait for 5.8 to become public.

What I'm saying is, you can patch your client up to today (Sunday the 12th), but I think they're gonna put OoW out tomorrow (Monday), so anytime after 6am that day, don't patch.

If you patch on Sunday the 12th you will have a version compatible for 5.8.

I think they're putting OoW out tomorrow, the 13th. So I'd say any time after 8am on Monday, you'd best not patch.

Note that Emu 5.8 is not public yet, so you'll only get the Emu Test Server right now on 5.8.

The current version that the majority of servers here are running is 5.7. If you have the patch files for 5.7, HOLD ONTO THEM!! You won't be able to get them back, as the EQ patcher introduced incompatible files about 2 months ago. (Edit: and this means don't attempt to patch this folder. Ever. Not today, not tomorrow, ever, until you're ready to let go of 5.7 for good.)OoW is patched to live on Tuesday, September 14, 2004.

Thx for the correction Cis.

(Btw, what he's quoting is what my post above said at first. I edited it to just directly answer Raider's question instead of putting all that other stuff in.)

You're out of luck until 5.9 but good news is most(if not all) opcodes seem to be the same, so it's mainly changes to item and playerprofile structs that I can see so far.

lol thank you

i take it $ulevel means.. scribes up to what level you are....

only thing i didnt add to my script...
i had been told to do scribespells() or scribespells(65)
neither worked..
