OK, got the PEQ basic database up and running (applied the patches and added the Winter's Roar info, including fixing the aa table).

I can log into the server and create a character. When I try to zone in with the character, the client hangs at a black screen.

On the World.exe command box, it throws the error:
Received unknown opcode: 0x02eb size:0 bytes
Read group ID for 'Fooba': 0
0: 2C 30 2C 2E 46 6F 6F 62 - 61 2C 30 36 37 61 37 39 | ,0,.Fooba,067a79

Same problem here, has anybody found a solution yet? I figure it has to be in the database somehere as everybody doesn't have this problem, so I am ripping apart my database one table at a time.

I actually sourced a whole new database and it didnt change anything.... Also, on one of my computers it works, I have no problems. I have two computers that the screen goes black and hangs after character selection. I tried copying over the whole everquest directory from the computer with the working client to the computer with this problem and its still the same thing....

OK, tried something different - I blew away my old EQ client directory and copied over my current "real" eq client directory. Modified the eqlsclient and eqhosts file as appropriate.

Now, when I log in, while I still can't zone in after creating a character, I get a different output on the world and zone windows. I've put the output in this thread as it seems to relate to what we're talking about (in the General Support forum):
