Which version of EqEmu are you using? If you are using 0.4.4 or something older with an Everquest dir that is patched to the latest from EQLive then that's why. You can download a alpha/beta of 0.5.0 which will let you log in and play with an up-to-date client, but there is no combat or anything yet.

I think the error part

Refers to a command/operation that your NEW EQ Client passed to the EqEmu server that the server did not know how to handle.

I'm guessing at this but maybe Sony is running EQ similar to the way that satilite companies run the access cards. This means that they know there are emulators out there and to disuade people from using them they occasionaly do a patch that changes how the client sends/recieves commands. This would of course break any emulator until the dev could update it to see/use the new commands.

Your best bet is to get the new 0.5.0 alpha/beta and live with no features for awhile, or wait for it to go gold.

Anytime I see a number other than zero in the '6' position you see above, I know it's not 0.5.0 server code. For example, you have 0x6912, when it should come across as 0x0912 on 0.5.0.

That means you are running some other version than 0.5.0. In 0.5.0, the network code strips the first four bits, so EVERY opcode you see come through Client::HandlePacket() will be 0x0***.

You won't find much support for running 0.4.4 here any longer, because not very many people have the client used to run it. Go with 0.5.0, and you'll avoid a lot of problems down the road (like "why am i getting 1017 when trying to connect to my 0.4.4 server with the EQLive client?")

There's a tutorial in the HOWTO section on how to run a 0.5.0 server.
