Why so hard to use ?!?!?!?!?!

Can someone please explain to me why this emu is so VERY hard to setup and use. I've just spent 6+ hours trying to get the thing working without any success. I have checked the forums for the errors that I get and when I find a solution to my previous problem another one comes up. :?: :!: :?:

Why does this emu have to be set up in this way and is there any decent setup guide as the one on the website homepage sill not work for me at all.

It's hard to use because you're not paying to have a professionally tailored package handed to you. On the other hand, running a server is a difficult venture and this serves to filter out those not capable of doing the job.

You don't need to run a server to play EQEMu. All you need to play EQEMu is a finger capable of clicking the mouse button.

I want to be able to use Eq over my LAN and I can't play it on the internet due to my dire internet connection (26 bps).

Do you have a guide that will tell me how to set it up over my LAN properly ?
I have just incountered error after error despite taking all the advice and guidlines from the forums.

Please could you tell me how this can be done.

P.S. I am trying to run V4.4 on Win98.

looking at the date you joined the issue is YOU CANT USE 4.4!!



you clame you spend all this time reading directions but unless you have the EQ files from Dec 02 you CANT have been paying too much attention.


Also Lan / minilogin is UNSUPPORTED it says that all over the place.

Well despite the fact you havent tried everything i'm going to help you as much as i can because you are new this is a list of the stuff you need for a simpe LAN setup. One more reson im doin this is because I used to have the same connection issues till they fixed some bandwith issues and I still cant get on some servers.

1. Up to date version of EQ.

2. EQEMu version 5.0
2a. Minilogin Version 5.0

3. Mysql server (Mysql.com if you dont know)

4. Host computer to run mysql, and the server

5. One or more computers to connect to the server. With the up to date EQlive files.
