FFXI emulator?

anyone kno about a ffxi emulator? if so, please tell me cause being a noob isnt fun >_< and pls dont just post here about how much ffxi sucks because i kno a lot of people dont like it but then again theres other people that do, and i dont really wanna hear disses about it cause im really trying not to hate it ^_^ so anywayz pls post if u kno of a ffxi emulator or a project in progress, thanx =D

bleh google doesnt really help, and i guess no one knows about any emulator, so my question is that does anyone kno how i would make an emulator? i mean, nothing like EQemu where it can b accessed by everyone and it needs DB's and stuff liek that, just something i can make so i can explore the areas and use certain armor and stuff like that (mainly being a summoner and getting the summons without severly hurting myself in the process >_<) so any ideas are aprreciated =D

It's easy! Search google for "emulator easybake oven". Double click it, point it to the folder with the program needing server emulation, and wait 15 minutes. Sit down and you've got an emulator!!!

Writing a FFXI emulator would take you months, assuming you actually had the knowledge and the time to focus. The encryption and packetsniffing isn't too easy, but you'd have to know how to do that so that you could know what packets do what. Basically, if you are a killer at programming, learn about networks and you'll be fine!

Maintaining the eqemu emulator has taken over six months just for one encryption update. So if you want something "not quite as complex as eqemu", you're still looking at a long time.

no need to b mean =*( but it doesnt hurt to ask, i dont kno really anything about computer programming but i saw a tutorial on how to make your own server so i thought maybe it wouldnt b that hard......shows how much i kno :D

I remember being a certain age when I didn't know whether my ideas were brilliant or silly. It's 22. Don't feel too bad.

There is a lot of work in making an emulator, and it mostly is the education that comes before writing it. Making a server is applying a server emulator program. Making that program takes months if you have the education. If you don't, then it takes years to get the education in order to learn enough to spend months making the emulator.

So there are two or three things that you must do before you make this emulator... Do you really want to spend years at school to emulate FFXI? Just wait for someone else with the credentials to do it.

I'm surprised at you a_Guest03 none of us have jobs and all we do is sit around waiting to program stuff for people for free.

Actually, I just announced to my customer today that I will be fazed out over the new year. No more cushy job! :( At least I'm leaving on my own, without being ejected. I don't know how much I'll be around following the location and state-of-being move coming up. I'll no longer be a working stiff.

ffxi emulator already? You crazy? The game just came out, look how long eqemu took and its not even perfected yet after all these years (im not insulting it or anything its the best emulator out there im just saying how long it could take)
