Error after login

I do not have Eqemu installed. I am just trying to connect to an existing server at this point. I got as far as the login screen but when I try to connect it gives me an error thst there is a problem with eqgfx_dx8.dll. Any suggestions? I am running windows XP...

do you have the latest version of everquest?
Are you useing EQW?
Do you have the latest verion of directX?


Looks like it's a problem with your DX files. you may try reinstalling DX. try to update everquest first it should let you know what is wrong(I think).

Just a FYI. I went to a 16 bit color scheme and that fixed the problem.
