Someone please help onnecting to Gotfrags server

Well I went backwards thru the readme. Im using 0.3.0

I am able to connnect locally using minilogin to play, but I can not seem to figure out what I am doing wrong to allow other people to log onto it thru the gotfrags login.

I am using a DLINK router, and it runs DHCP. My local IP address is 192.168.0.115 I have edited my router to allow this local IP address to sit in the DMZ. So it is wide open!!l

Here is my config files...

Boot5zones.win9x.bat reads.... I am running the server on windows 98 - and once again my outside IP is changed to a fake one, aand it is the same as in Loginserver.ini..

I can see my server listed, but I, and everyone else gets a 1017 error when trying to connect. I have read the message boards completely and there is not any solutions. Just the same problem, and Dead threads. I'm sure someone has the answer.

I can also login to `everyone elses server just fine..

I h,ave also looked in dbg.txt in the Everquest directory and I noticed it reads this

As mentioned above I was using my gotfrags account to log on.

I see my server listed. but get 1017 when connecting..

I can log into my server with the eqemu username and password, but not my gotfrags account!

I can log into everyone elses servers with my gotfrags accounts. and EMU LOL... Is this proper?

Or should I be able to log onto my server with my gotfrags account and everyone elses server?

Sorry, but all weekend playing with my configs, it works, but not how i expected it. Im starting to feel all the beer in me....

Also i been working on editing Drawde's db. correcting most of the X,Y cords when zoning into certain zones. Plus adding alot of known quest. I also killed the raft in Halas... it sank to the bottom after I attacked it! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Drawde's database is bad@ss he RULZ! so does A's. hope we all can combined all we did soon... My database started with A's, then i imported D's added my own stuffins.. Hope to get they're newest release soon.

If you can answer my qestions above it will help. thanks again..

I"m sort of confused in where your getting the error, first you say you can see the server and get 1017 error, then u say u cant log in with gotfrags account? (by the way, there is no more gotfrags accounts lol. dont you mean EQEmu.org account?


Also, you are wasting your time masking your IP because anyone that looks at the "Who's Online" list can see everyones dns (which can be turned into an IP very easily).

Is your local ip 68.0.1x2.2x4 (x replaced two numbers, incase you really dont want your ip in the post lol). it sounds like the router is screwing everything up (GET RID OF IT hehe). Try using your real IP and everything in worldaddress and the boot5zones.bat.

I used gotfrags account to less confuse you, as I suspected it did.

Here is a new freaking problem---

A: What other account would you use to connect to eqlogin.eqemu.org? this problem sounds like a server setup problem or your internet connection and/or the way your internet connection is handling it (router/firewall/proxy/whatever). I do not know anything about routers or proxys or networking so i cant help you there. i can tell you i know for a fact these things cause major problems in conjuntion with EQEmu.

A: do you mean using minilogin? minilogin requires a completely differant setup than you would use when connecting to the EQEmu.org loginserver. The only account that works with Minilogin is eqemu/eqemu (login/password).

If you are connecting with minilogin than you can flag the eqemu account as a ServerOP. goto start, run and type "command" without the quotes and hit enter. Then type "cd c:\eqemu" without the quotes and hit enter. Then type "world.exe flag eqemu 200" without the quotes and hit enter. it will tell you it was flagged.

Everything you said makes perfect sence, and that is how I expected it to work. but TRY THIS!!

First here is my eqhost.txt file....

Login using eqemu for username and pass...
Result = you can connect to everyones server with that username and pass, you can see all the char's they made... Including mine..

Now, when I log into login.eqemu.org login server as mentioned above using my FREE account that i signed up for, on your website, I can not seem to log into my own server. However, i can log into everyone elses.

I don't know how much more to explain.

I know quite a bit about routers, hubs, managed, and unmanaged switches, protocols, etc. As I am a Network engineer. But I know very little on mysql programming. Other than using the EQadmin =P

Please try it, and let me know what you think.

Also if you can clear up how to be serverOP on my own server, that would help. The reason i mentioned flaging eqemu 200 is because I did that with minilogin and it works perfectly.

I am trying to be serverOP on my EQEMU.org server.

the proper wording for that first line should be "Logging in using minilogin... Result="

Minilogin is completely differant than using the eqlogin.eqemu.org loginserver. noone elce can connect to your minilogin server exept you, and there can be no accounts added to the database that works with minilogin (thus why eqemu/eqemu is the only thing that works).

When your eqhost.txt says

then that means you are connecting to the EQEmu.org loginserver and the eqemu/eqemu account no longer works. You would use your registred account here (made at http://eqemu.org/login ) and all servers connected will be listed here. (i know you know most of this i'm just trying to be very clear about it hehe).

To flag the account on your server (when you connect your server to the eqemu.org loginserver) you would do the exact same thing you did to flag the "eqemu/eqemu" account but replace eqemu with the login name you made at http://eqemu.org/login

Ok kewl, thanks for flagging info.

BUT I SWEAR TO THE POWER OF EMU that I can log into any freaking server!!!!!!! using the eqemu as username pass, on the (gotfrags) login screen!

Name a server, I can login, #zone any of your chars, dress them up in sweet armor, And this is on any that i choose to play! EVEN GREEN SERVERS!!!!

I think you need to look into that, it is a bug, or a hole..

for the last time, do NOT USE eqemu/eqemu when connecting to gotfrags. that is not your account. argh.

eqemu/eqemu should ONLY be used if every IP in all of the ini files say LOCALHOST (setup for minilogin).

You can see other chars because other people logged in and made them (because it not your account like i said). its a ServerOP on most servers because most people flag eqemu as a serverop lol. if your stupid enough to flag eqemu on your real server then you diserve to get #worldshutdown from a noob.
