Server up!

After some errors and MANY MANY forum searches...(you should really delete some old posts) I managed to get my new server up and running (local).

Aside from not letting me start with some races for some reason (i just change it after i start anyhow so no big) and some Tiny mobs hitting in the 400's keeping me from leveling up (which i found the fix to in the forums) everything is working alright.

Was thinking that it would be a good idea to replace some of the story text files with some usefull textfiles so you dont have to minimize eq to look at them (i.e. spells text file... the zones shortname list ... race list etc. Does anyone know of a better place to put these things than in the story txt files.. or would this even work?

Your in luck, someone else with the foward thinking that you have, has already made one (and it rocks by the way). You can find it here (http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11682&highlight=storyline). It is a sticky in 3rd party tools.

Thanks for that. It is very close to what I was talking about and provides adequate enough information as to how I can add the spell list into the story files as well.

The only real problem i had with getting my server started was one particular error i was getting.... Turned out that my server name was not long enough of all things..... spen two hours trying to figure out what i did wrong and all it was was my server name was too short.... wanted to gouge out my eyes with a wooden spoon..
