I've always really really wanted to play EverQuest but I've never had the money to pay for the monthly fee. Until today!
I just found your site today and it looks pretty sweet. I downloaded the EqEmu files needed to get onto a server. And read through the instructions but most of this is kind of over my head. You see, I'm what people call an "idiot". Can someone please give step-by-step instructions on how to get started playing on a free server in a very dumbed-down way? I need everything! Database, host, all that jazz in the login txt file, a good free server address or whatever I need. In other words, give me all you can for a total moron like myself. Thanks in advance.

First, wrong forum *moves it*

Second, the readme is a step by step guide to install/setup/connect to your own server (also allowing anyone to log into it).

If you only want to connect and play around right now follow this link. you dont need to download ANYTHING to play on someone elces server but its reccomended you download EQW (just follow the link and read)

OK, thanks.
Well, I did everything that message told me to do but when I run EQ and log in with my newly created sn and pw, it says "EQEmu Error: bad username/password". What am I doing wrong? Do I have to have an irc name? Because I don't know how to get one. well thanks again.

No need to help me. I figured it out on my own.

What my problem was is that I had actually read the EQEmu help guide that came with the EQEmu itself. And I changed the db file and screwed things up like it told me to. So I fixed my changes and now I'm in.
