I have posted this problem on other hardware and software forums, without reply, and vdo card manufacturers say that they wont help as what my problem is, is NOT supported anyhow (resolutions of that size in digital).... :( so here goes, hope someone here will know what to do :
Here is the problem starting with system spec (relevant to the issue):
Geforce FX 5900 Ultra 256 MB RAM
AMD Athlon 3200+
1 GB 400 MHZ RAM
Samsun SyncMaster 240T 24' widescreen LCD monitor
Windows XP Professional SP1
I am having a problem with the digital resolution on this. To explain better, maybe I should start from the beginning.
When I first bought this rig, I installed everything and all was well, until I tried to use the resolution 1920 x 1200 on digital (which is native for the monitor, anything below doesnt look very good), as analog at that resolution works just fine and is totally supported by the drivers. I was able to set the analog res. to that, and set it up as clone, then when I switch monotor from analog to digital, I was able to do anything in that resolution. BUT, if I unplug the analog connector then rebooted, it would only go up to 1280 x 1024 max for digital... So as long as I had both analog and digital cables plugged in and had it set to clone and analog as the main display, I could view this resolution in either digital or analog.
Now, here is the kicker that lets me know that the drivers ARE capable of it, just locked out, I was trying to play a game that required me to download and use a set of older drivers from Nvidia to run correctly, and I COULD set it to that resolution without having the analog enabled at all... Also, on my older system (which I was using this monitor before I bought the new rig), has a Geforce TI 4200 128 mb ram, and even the newest drivers would allow me to do this resolution. But, when reinstalling my OS and that particular driver, it no longer worked...
I am seeing in the properties window that the drivers RECOGNIZE my monitor, and also recognize that it IS capable of 1920 x 1200 in digital, it just will not allow me to set it at that without the analog being the main display... Does anyone know of any software or a way to unlock this, or to even trick it so I can use this resolution without having to have the analog cable plugged into the vdo card? I am wanting to use that for another computer, to share the monitor, if you will. TIA.............
P.S. The "List all modes" does not show that resolution in digital either
