i get ERROR: 1017 when i try to join a server, im new to this sp i have no idea what to do, please help

Ok, what kind of server are you trying to connect to? 5.3, 5.5? When was the last time you patched? Before or after Feb. 10th? If you are currently patched to live, you should be able to connect to the 5.5 servers.

That was NOT aimed toward you... I was just thinking that these lines contained that same info as what you typed:
This is either a version error (meaning you are tyring to run a version of EQEMu that is NOT compatible with whatever patch you have for your client) , or NAT issue (Just do a search for these two errors as it will pull up tons of responses. This is the most common error we have here) And he wrote:

But, in all seriousness, yes, you (setzer) will need to provide more info to us if you believe that neither of those things in the guide are to blame, in order for us to help you..

ok, ive patchen and i can connect... but no i've run into another problem.. EQ keeps krashing...

You NEED to be more specific. Understand that we CANNOT see your computer and/or the error that it is giving you, if any, but one kind of crash is usually different than another... Elaborate please..
