Ok i just need some help logining in. If anyone who is using xp tell me what ti type in on RUN to get it running right i type in
C:\PROGRA~1\EVERQU~1\eqgame.exe patchme
I have installed all updates and i end up with the old everquest login background and this is why i think i am getting the host error. And i cant use the old way of C:\Program Files...etc
to login becasue it does not work on xp can someone please help me on this.

i know i get the 1017 error code when i try to use the "Patchme" way to get in.... but if i use EQW to enter i get in ok... i think you can download it from this site

If you are going to use patchme just right click eqgame.exe and click Create Shortcut, then open the shortcut properties and add patchme in the line.

I have tryed EQW before and it does not work.

It works fine if you want it to.. try changing your desktop Color setting to 16bit.

I get to the login screen with it just like when i use the login way but then i change the eqhost file and then i end up with it saying it cant find the eqhost file. Think i should just go back to 98 got it working fine on that. Thx for helping shawn

The only time i have recieved the eqhost file not found is when i tried to connect without ever patching to the current version.

Your right got it working now but i am sure on windows 98 i could log on without patching it.:D

Installed of the CD without patching at least one time i always get the eqhost file not found error. I have tried with the Orginal CD and the Kunark CD. Almost like they planned it that way. Might just be my system though. I dont have another one to test on.

You have to patch to the current version of EQ using the patcher. it doesnt care if your on Windows 1492.
