I have a strange problem. After successfully setting up my server, I log into EQEmu and my server comes up as LOCKED, but the "LOCKED" value in the .ini file is set to "false." I'm actually able to select my server and get to the character screen, but there I always get a "Character name is rejected" message, hence thwarting any progress. Choosing other LOCKED servers gives me the appropriate "This server is locked" message.

What could be the problem?

Here is an overview of my setup:

* WinNT 4.0 SP6/ Pentium III 750

* EQEmu 0.5.2

* On DMZ of Linksys router

* Instructions on this (http://www.eqemulator.net/serverguide5.php) page followed precisely from starting from step h.

PLEASE HELP! Been trying to solve this for 3 hours! :oops:

Did you load Boot5zones.bat?

It is more than likely a DB problem.. But you need to post your world.exe and zone.exe output to find out.. Also, post the contents of your loginserver.ini, db.ini, eqhost.txt and load5zones.bat (some are calling it boot5zones.bat nowadays).... We'll see what we can see...

Let me not be rude and leave this thread open-ended. I was able to fix my problem a couple of days ago by doing a different tutorial (the one for 0.5.5DR1). It actually turns out that the server was coming up LOCKED only because the zones hadn't fully initialized (it was taking about 5 minutes with the old db). It initializes much quicker with the new db.

As for the character name being rejected, I think you were right Samandhi. A database error is all I can think of.

I really appreciate the responses Samandhi and NarutoLegacy.

Cheers! 8)
