please dont flame me here but i do not know much about computers or programs or many things to do with them so i am getting the 1017 error that is not allowing me to get on a server. i read that this may be caused because i am using an innactive account? so what i was wondering is how i can make a new account that will work? thanks for your help again please dont lfame me if the problem is so easily solved cuz u guys are all geniuses with things like this. also the answer may not be a technical like making an account i may have just misread something or not read the places where i was told how to make an account. i had made this account a long time ago and this account is so old its probably why it wont work but i cannot make another account with the same email adress so its hard for me to know what to do.

Are you using a eqhosts text file that looks like this?:

This one works for me...also did you append patchme to the end of your target line in your .exe shortcut?"C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest\EverQuest.exe" patchme (or something to that effect)[/code]

The shortcut should be to eqgame.exe and not everquest.exe....

Are you trying to log into a public server, then you should be using the username and password that you set up to post on the forums here.

If you're trying to log into a private server I can't help you though. :(

When was the last time you patched? What version are you trying to play? 5.3, 5.5? Click on the error guide link in my sig... There's lots of useful info...
