I'm just trying to connect to the eqemulator login server at this point... I have gone back to a version of EQ that was last patched in December (I think), and copied that over my newly patched version. Now, after some successful logins, I am getting an error in windows saying:

EverQuest Startup Error

EverQuest was unable to initialize the file EQMAIN.DLL.

You may wist to try rebooting, delteting eqmain.dll, and re-starting everquest.

I'm running DX9, got the latest GeForce drivers, etc etc... any ideas?

Thank you!

I would delete eqmain.dll and then repatch to Live. If that doesn't work uninstall and reinstall Everquest. If THAT doesn't work, format the hard drive and reinstall Windows.

Doh! I forgot to mention that this is occurring on 3 different systems, as well...

Gonna try that list, Jez - thank you!

Jezebell,

Just to confirm, it is safe to patch to the current EQlive to use 5.5?

Thanks,

GC

I still have my crash issue even after I...
1) Patch Live
2) Installed DX9
3) Updated my GeForce drivers to 56.64 (or whatever the latest are)

I'm going to back up my data, zero the drive on one of my P3 boxes, and reload from scratch...

On the other P3 box, however, it will let me connect, but I get constant 1017 errors when trying to play on a server selected from the list. That one's eqmain.dll is dated March 15, 2004, and the eqgame.exe is dated March 30, 2004.

Thank you for your patience and support. I appreciate it greatly!

Well, narrowed it down to being the Nvidia drivers (my pc's like the 41.09 drivers and nothing else) and the video card in one box. Apparently, the differences between 2 GF2 MX's (one 100/200, the other 200/400) are enough to make the 100/200 incompatible with DX9.

Thanks for the help, folks!

Im getting the same error as well but i found out you are using an Intel Graphics card dont you? They said they made to to where people with intel graphic cards cant play everquest but they are putting a patch out tommorow morning at 3am the servers will be down for 3 hours. but to temporarily get on go to your eq directory and delete your eqclient.txt file. then use eqgame to get in DO NOT LEAVE THE GAME after you delete the file or else you will have to re delete the file....so far thats wut i got out of eq's guides.....but i am gettign crashes at server selection so i dont know if deleting that file will help but still it helps some....try it out ttul....
