View Full Version : New Activation Process!!!!

Starting immediately, there will be a new registration process. Due to the problems and the insecure nature of phpbb passwords, we will need to separate the forum accounts with login server accounts. Old accounts will continue to work the way they always have, with the exception of using the everquest client to change your login account's password. Accounts on the login server will be associated with forum accounts in a limited form, but we recommend you use a different password on your login server account than your forum account. The registration system works like this:
1. If you dont have a forum account, you must register one. After you register a forum account, you will still need to register a login server account because we arent going to be using the forum usernames/passwords anymore.
2. Login to your forum account and click the profile link from the top forum menu. On the profile page, under your username you will find a unique key. That key will be needed to activate a new login server account.
3. Change your eqhost.txt file to the following:
[Registration Servers]
{
"register.eqemulator.net:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin2.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin3.eqemulator.net:5997"
}
4. Using the everquest client, click Account, New. The only information we need you to fill in is your email address (it must match your forum accounts email address), your cdkey (Login Server Activation Key located in step 2), your station name (new account name you want), password, and your user handle for chat purposes. Although this is the only information we use, the eq client makes you fill in some of the fields.
5. After your account is created, you will be able to login and play everquest as normal. You can only have 3 login server accounts associated with your forum account. If you want more than that, you will need to register another forum account.
Although every step was taken to prevent people from losing accounts, if you cant login please email me at LethalEncounter@EQEMulator.net with your forum username and the error you are receiving.
Again, current accounts will work as normal (they were moved over to the new system), this is only for new login server accounts; However it is HIGHLY encouraged that you change your login server password and keep it different than your forum account password. Phpbb is full of exploits, so please change your login server password.

Whats confusing about it? Your the first person who didnt understand the process, so apparently its not too confusing to the majority of the users.

your cdkey (Login Server Activation Key located in step 2), your station name (new account name you want), password, and your user handle for chat purposes.
Which fields on the page do we put this information in, since only a field for e-mail is there.

there are multiple pages for the registration, email address is on the first page, the rest of the info we require is on the third page.

Ok I understand the process, but lets say I have created a new account with the new process and I forgot what user id I used after creating it. :( Is there a way I can find out what I used? Sad part I know thw password just not the ID. Oh well I have been playing emuservers now for two months and my first post had to be a dumb a$$ question.
Thanks

Perhaps since the forum axxounts are tied to your game accounts there should be a page on your forum profile for viewing what active game accounts you currently have and possibly passsword retrieval for them.

not password retrieval, but I might be able to display your login server accts. The whole point in going to this new process was to increase password security because phpbb is full of holes which have allowed people to get other peoples md5 hashed passwords. Once they have that, its only a matter of time before they can crack their forum password. It wouldnt make sense to put in a password retrieval option on the forum accounts that would let anyone with your forum password retrieve your login server account passwds. I have been recommending that people use a different password on their login server accounts than they do here. If you use the same password, and someone deletes your characters on a legit server, dont complain.

OK, I have added the ability to view your login server account names. It's next to your Login Server Activation Code in your user profile. (click the profile link at the top of this page)

Did you try just putting any old junk in the other fields that EQEmu doesn't require ?

while trying to create an account I keep getting an
0035 Account Key Invalid
error...
I use the key given in my forum profile...
It neither works if I patch before changing the eqhosts.txt nor after the change (if that's any help...)

you must change your eqhost.txt file and make sure to NOT run the everquest patcher. There is two ways around this:
1. Run eqw (eqwindows.com)
2. Run everquest via the patchme method. (Described below)
Click Start, Run, type in the path to you eqgame.exe in your everquest folder and enclose it in quotes, then immediately after the closing quotation mark, you put the word patchme. Like so:
"c:\program files\everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

Your not following the directions. Your trying to activate a new account on sonys servers, not ours.

Have you played EQ yet? Regular EQ?
I don't think that file is created until EQ actually connects to a server and figures out how fast you can send data to the server.
If you've already played regular EQ and the file's still not there, then I wouldn't worry about it.

*shrug*
I'd say just give it a try without a datarate.txt then. EQGame.exe might be able to create it for you anyway.

Just create a datarate.txt file in your EQ folder, it needs to have a single line in it that reads:
8.0

Ok I've set eqemu up just like it told me to do in the how-to, but everytime i click on "new" on the account page i get a message saying wrong version run the patch program to make sure you have the current version. Well i run the the everquest patch, but it never seems to make a difference. So i'm very confused, if i could get some help thank you. :)

As far as the wrong version make sure that when you created the shortcut you put a space and typed patchme where it told you too and also chage your eqhost.
BTW I got it fixed thanks a lot guys gals for the help :)
