On the homepage it says not to patch to eq, i didnt, i try to log into 5.6 or 5.7 it doesnt work. do i need to patch to eq or is there something else i could do. If you could tell me flame whatever would be helpful.

Not very helpful? No - it isn't. What doesn't work? Do you get a black screen, 1017, are you running your own? Could you log in before? When did you last patch? Do you have DX9?

I will try to be a little more discriptive...

Yesterday, (4-21-04), i could install, patch, and log in fine. today, i couldent so i tried to reinstall / repatch. still same thing. I can connect, enter my username and PW, get a list of servers, select a server, even make a char. but as soon as I "enter world", it sits there for a second or 3, and kicks me back out to the server selection screen. It does this on every server i try (including my own). I do not get any errors, but i did notice some things in the dbg.txt.

this is just one. it says this about alot of files. Other than that, it dosent tell me anything. If you tell me what you need posted, I will be glad to attach it.

Well keyman explained what was happening to me (thanks) but i do have dx9 i havnt patched in about 2 month and i could log in before no black screen no 1017.

When i installed yesterday, i made a RAR of the whole eq install dir. so what I did, was installed, patched, deleted all the files and replaced them with the files from my RAR file.. POOF it worked. so they must have updated again. Do they do this JUST to f*ck with us, or are these legit updates? Anyway, i think is IS a new client :( hope this helps.

Update. I didnt need to install all the files of that backup. Just replacing eqgame.exe and the DX9 dll file did it too! I suggest keeping a backup of the whole dir tho so that when an update comes out and you accidently patch, you can "roll back".
