Here is the source for EQEmu 0.5.7-DR2 which is live compatable as of 4-25-04 and has items in working order (no more disappearing).

As always, this release is NOT SUPPORTED. Please do not reply to this thread asking for it to be compiled, or give out e-mail addresses to send away for compiled versions.

If you are not a C++ programmer and do not know EVERY ASPECT of running an EQEmu server from the ground up, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS!!!!

I know this is a noob question, but how does a player upgrade to 5.71-DR2? And if I already have 5.71, will that work on DR1 and DR2?

Players can't upgrade, its the people that run the servers that upgrade. All the player can do is patch to Live or not.

Will there be a compiled version released soon? Can't really afford VS.NET

Notice the aprt that says to only use it if you are a C++ developer and its completely unsupported. Official compiled builds only come up once a version is ready for release, when they move to 5.7 with no DRs. Some one may, possibly, post a compiled version of it before that time, but thats up to them and completely unsupported or authorised by the developers.

Let me rephrase my question, how long does it normally take for a compiled version to come out after the source release?

I accidently patched <clicked on the wrong EQ icon>, and think I would enjoy playing around with the system on a miniserver for myself + my g/f.

Theres never any way to know when one will come out. A lot of versions don't have a compiled version of it posted at all before the next version is released while other times they pop almost immediately or 3-4 days later. Just like asking for ETAs on bug fixes or when the latest patch will become compatible, asking for ETAs for stuff like this is pretty pointless because it'll happen when it happens, its impossible to tell since everyone is working on this in their free time and they tend to work on what they feel is imortant to the Emu or what is most fun for them. Every timeframe is completely different and unpredictable because of this.

I know this is surely listed somewhere on the forums, but i'll be damned if I can find it:

Which version of EQEmu if any is compatible with the most recent patch (before today, if there is a patch today)?

I've been away for a while and fell a bit behind of the releases. :)

There isn't one, EQEMu is not up to Live patch right now.

Alright, thanks. :)

*copies his EQ folder before patching and begins waiting*

Don't take over old threads for stuff like this, make a new one in the correct forum. Asking a question is not news.

But he should still pick the right forum for a support question, like the general support forum.

Anime, if you weren't so anal about everything, you'd realize that nobody really gives a shit.

Gratz on bumping a post that was weeks old.

There is forum topics for a reason, people do give a shit otherwise they wouldnt have made seperate topics for such subjects
