How do dragon breath attacks (when they rise on their hind legs and spray you with green, red or blue stuff) work?

As in, are they a spell, a specific animation? To me, it would seem it's a particle (spell) effect added to the regular dragon casting animation, but the only particle effects that might work with it are the "Immolating Breath" etc in the spdat.eff editor, and those just result in a meek spray upwards from the back of the dragon.

Anyone have any idea how this is done?

I cycled through animations 0-30, and did not see this. Maybe it is a highernumber, or is called about differently.

It does use the exact regular dragon cast animation, only with stuff coming from the mouth. Also, in WW, there are dragon models using different kinds of breath attacks.

So it's certainly a particle effect. I found Nagafen/Vox AOE's in spdat. They use immolating breath/mesmerizing breath. HOWEVER, these still only result in a little spray from the spine of the dragon, despite the fact that dragons normally cast from the insides of their mouths.

Really confusing.

edit ( once again )

maybe its from effects not casting.. ie: it casts special spell on himself and result comes out of mouth.

Anyone bothered to try using SEQ on eqlive to see if something different occurs?

The dragon breath has to do with the spell casting, however for some reason, we only see half of the particle effects when the dragons use their breath (you can see the grayish particles coming out from the body, but cannot see the fire/cold breath coming out of their mouth)
