Ok, so i've been working on running a server. I've gotten everything compiled and have had people actually play on my server. The problem is, i cannot connect to it from the box it's running (error 1017 or something like that). I've searched all the forums and tried all the remedies and nothing works. One thing i noticed though is no one suggested trying to run the server publicly with a "minilogin" that would work for just one zone that was setup to be used for the lan. In other words, have a public server but be able to connect to it via the lan. If anyone can help out with this idea, i would be very greatful.
Thanks again,

Could be your router <if u have one> but im sure you already thought of that.
I've had the same problem as you. What I did to fix it was juggle my ip's and ports around in the ini/boot5zones.bat. Worked for me. I think I was using my real ip and localhost for a few of the server entires... using 127.0.0.1 cleared a few of my problems up.
I tried using the minilogin but that seemed to make more problems for me for some reason. Using the eqemulator.net loginserver worked best for me in the end.

Well, i've tried adjusting the 127.0.0.1 and the localhost, that doesn't seem to work. I have ports "7990-8010", "9000", "5997-6000", and "7000" forwarded. i'm running the router in dmz, and i made sure my login.ini, my boot5zones.bat, and my db.ini are all set up correctly. I've had other people log in to my server, just not me. This is why i'm thinking of possibly running a server with public access and one server to run on a mini login. I dunno, it might work.
