Yep, Sony changed the entire login procedure, DO NOT PATCH!!!
If you patch you will not be able to play on EQEMu!!
This is Sony's new EQHOST.TXT::
[LoginServer]
Host=eqlplogin1.everquest.com:15900
Complete different setup from what we have now. I tried messing with it by switching the host to EQEMu's server and it will not connect. :(

I can play both i have 2 files eqlive one and eqemu one. Oh i think i have a eqemu back up to. All i have to say is if u patch u cant play cause of the eqhost or make a new account unless devs find a way to. Makes me think this might be the end of eqemu, i hope it isnt. :( :(. Im tired of soes bull shit every thing fucking eq up on eq is geting old they need to fix things before releasing it :twisted:. One thing they need to lurn is to make they game fun for both noobs and high end people,guild. If this ever happend then maybe they might pull all those people back that left.

I'm thinking that they only changed the internal login procedure, so with some packet sniffing it should be possible to fix it. It seems they're now using a centralized login server at SOE and dumped the old "989 Studios" ones.
Let's hope this doesn't mean a new encryption algorithm ...

This will get fixed eventually and we knew it was coming from people logging into the test server. People have already tried putting in the eqemu info in the new format and it does connect to our login servers but they send different info so they can't login right, but this is not that bad we just need people to packet collect logging into Sony's and also failing to login to Sony's to see what is sent and recieved. But this will probably end up with one bad thing, all servers will have to upgrade to the latest patch once the login server does since the client has to be compatible with the login server or we'll have to have two login servers since some don't want to upgrade like Winter's Roar. Since we already have 3 login servers and I'm not sure if hte new format can allow mltiple login servers this shouldn't be a big deal.

Ok, i just tried messing around with that new host file and i may have found something but i don't know, i can give it a try to see if u guys know anything.
I took the first line of the login servers from your eqhost.txt and i put it in for the eqhost.txt in the eq folder..now it looks like this
[LoginServer]
Host=eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997
I ran EQEmu, and it couldn't connect to the server, it didn't say anything to me about a wrong username or anything...u probably have already tried this but maybe u didn't and u can work off of it...I'm new to this stuff so don't hate me :D
you also might want to check out the eqlsClient.ini folder
Here are the contents:

None of this really helps, we already did all the same tests when this patch was first put on the test server. But this part
AccountURL=https://eqbl.station.sony.com/launchpad/index.jsp
may help a bit since we can no longer use the client for registering clients like we have been for the past few months. We could tell people to change that file to so that the register takes themm to our webpage to register. Of course thats not that helpful since we could just put a link in the guide and it would be easier.

I had to reinstall EQ today, and of course I didn't realize they had released a patch today. Anyway, is there an easy way to patch up to a certain point? Or a way to revert back to the last patch update that worked with EQemu?
The only other option I can think of is to reinstall again and not patch at all...but that won't work will it?

Just noticed something odd.
After attempting to log into the server list now, of course with the new patch, the EQ client just closes itself. But when you open up the eqhost.txt file after this occurs, the following is within the file:
[LoginServer]
Host=xp-smitchell:7308
Hmmm...

One last thing.
I noticed that the format for the eqhost.txt file is now different.
Here is what the old format looked like:
[Registration Servers]
{
"register.eqemulator.net:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin2.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin3.eqemulator.net:5997"
}
Here is what the new block looks like, with one of the EQemu server's info:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqlogin3.eqemulator.net:5997
Notice the new block is labelled differently, and there are no longer any curly-brackets nor quotes. It seems that spaces at the end of the lines affect if it works or not. (Removing the spaces got me farther than leaving them in.)
I tried it with the new format and trying the EQemu login servers one at a time for the host. There is an attempt made to connect, but it fails. So something has changed when it comes to getting through to the server listing.
Hope that helps!

3 Consecutive Posts.... :?
Anyway I hope we get this resolved, I want to be able to patch to both and have it work just by changing host...
We can all hope...

Nope, they changed a LOT of the login procedure. Before, every eq packet had a header that described the packet. We used that header to identify fragmented packets and a lot of other important stuff. They decided to take that out. They also shortened the checksum on the end of the packet and are probably using a custom function to generate the new checksum. These changes made packetcollecting it and decyphering it far more difficult. I have been able to get the login process to work, but even if I send the exact server info that live does, the servers wont appear. I'm a little worried about that issue.
Oh, and about encryption? Its non existant, all usernames and passwords (along with all the other packets) are currently being sent unencrypted. I'm going to wait until this weekend to continue work on this, so I have time to fully look into it some more, but I suspect they will realize they are idiots for sending passwords in clear text and will patch in the next few days.
