I just wanted to say yay for EQEmu, and also give a big thank you to all those of you who've provided tutorials and such, and offered answers on various problem threads, because it's all really, really helped me. I've just got my first 5.7-DR4 server up and running, after a couple of hours worth of scouring the boards, hehe. :)

Thanks! 8) I'm really interested in the development of all this, so I'll probably be constantly a-lurking here from now on. :)

Welcome meeble, and congrats on getting a 5.7DR4 server going, I know it can be difficult if you are new to it, especially when EQEmu is in a transition between patches as it is at the moment.

Updating servers is at the discression of the server op. I for one dont plan to upgrade for a little while until things start to settle down some. It becomes a pain to upgrade every other day just because SOE decides to do a new patch every few hours.

Would you mind sharing your dr4 compiled source. The EXE's for the rest of us who aren't C++ Compiler inclined ?

im not flaming but need to ask

in another post you said you would be glad to make a patcher program but here you say you cant use c++ and compile source
wouldnt making the patcher be harder to do then it would be to compile source code ?

Maybe he doesn't have access to C++ but has something like VB to create and compile a patcher? /shrugs Good point though MrJag, I'd be curious to this as well :P

I have never programmed in c++ but i do have extensive VB knowledge.

Is anyone gonna post EXEs or just stand here and wonder how I could do the things I can do ?? :)

I can compile exe's if u guys really need em. Im certainly not advanced in my knowlage of vb aand C++ but I have enough to get thru a compiler and screw around with existing code.

I can prolly compile the cvs releases and leave them on a server of mine. Dunno if the dev's here are cool with that or not. I know some people here only want to run a server just to screw around for fun and dont want to be bothered with compiling and all that.

Just as a side comment, I too have become a regular troll here and visit here like 10x a day and refreshing the cvs dir non-stop hehehehe. I love all the work that has been done here. And I hope that I can lend some help in some way or another. I figure that dev's probably dont have the time or really want to be bothered with making a patch to update your servers more easily with. But if its cool with everyone, I'd like to look into making a patcher to update your exe's & mysql db's without having to recompile everything.

Nothing but <3 for eqEmu~ :D
