Ok, i get to the Login screen, type the username : password in, and *Dong* Client has crashed. Any suggestions?
*Edit: Not EQW and the my Current version of EQ works perfectly normally on Live*
*Edit #2:
Your eqhost.txt is formatted wrong. Make sure it is exactly the same as what the tutorials say and no extra spaces at the ends of lines, then make it read only.
My eqhost.txt is formetted the same as the guide at home-page.[/quote]

Try setting eqhost to this:
[Registration Servers]
{
"register.eqemulator.net:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin2.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin3.eqemulator.net:5997"
}
Also make sure there are no spaces at the end of the lines..

I found the problem. All you need to do is erase everything in EQhost.txt in your directory and put the information back in. MAKE SURE IT'S READ ONLY! or it will put a different server, it should work.

there is no need to make eqhost.txt read only !
Create a shortcut of eqgame.exe , rightclick -> properties -> target
add patchme at the and

No it has to be read only because the game will try to change it now as well as the patcher. Because if the game finds anything different with the file it will rewrite it to point to Sony again ebcause they only want you to play there.

Sony suck
I believe that has been established many times, long ago, when they made the EULA clause that says you can't play on Emu servers or they will ban you from live.

OK i changed my eqhost to read only, and edited to what the person wrote above, and i am still crashing whether i use EQgame with the patchme or EQW. Anyone know what i should do?
I was having the same problem with my eqw. I would enter pw/login and then an error would occur and eq would have to close. However, after doing what Vakir suggested, I was able to get to the server selection (but no further).

Solution:
Main site says:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995
Should be:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995
Spoted it yet? Its the sneaky little ' ' (space) after the '[LoginServer]', all i did was deleted it, and viola, one fixed thingy-ma-jig

Actually if you copy and paste both of those you will end up with both of them having a space at the end because of how the forum saves it and how your browser saves it. Thats why the tutorial also says to copy then remove spaces at the ends of the lines.

I have tried everything on this thread so far and I've traced my steps back through the setup process to make sure everything is right, and still once I enter my user and pass and click "login" the program exits to desktop. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm also having this problem, and I've followed all of the instructions exactly.
My EQhost.txt file is read only and contains
[Registration Servers]
{
"register.eqemulator.net:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"eqlogin1.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin2.eqemulator.net:5997"
"eqlogin3.eqemulator.net:5997"
}
with absolutely no spaces after anything.
EDIT: Everything is working fine now. It seems that all you need in the EQhost.txt file is
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995
Exactly as you see it, with no space after the [LoginServer]. Hopefully that'll help with your problem as well.

This is the case with any .ini file associated with EQemu if you ever get errors or things not working always check to see if there is a space after words it has helped me many times.

Actually I tried that too, but it didn't work. After going back through and re-reading other threads, it turns out it has something to do with the new login. As long as your patch is before (may 21st was it?) it will work, but if you patched to EQ servers after that you're screwed. But my question is, I could completely uninstal EQ and reinstal it from my Evolutions disks, but then would the files from that be too old to work with EQemu?

Yes, I have the same problem and question as above, I just found eqemulator, and installed everquest evolutions, but nothing was working. So I figured I must have too old of a version, so I patched, it still doesn't work, and another question. When you run the program shoud you be running, everquest.exe patchme or eqgame.exe patchme?

eqgame.exe patchme

I just got everquest evolutions, and I can't host and play on the same computer because when I install the game, it is too old, but if I download the patch it is too new, is there anything I can do?
