i searched the forums high and low * and i know there is a post answering this becuase i saw it a while back but cannot seem to relocate it * for an answer to my problems

Basically i have no porblem with my server, people can get in, no lag, no problems how ever i being the server_OP i cannot manage to log onto my server when i run them together on the same computer. Other people seem not to have this problem for some reason. I have a router and i opened ports up all fine, im 99% sure its not a source / DB problem. if ANY one has a answer to this troublesome problem PLEASE RESPOND!

If your on a LAN, open the Clients Hosts File, not eqhosts.txt,

Hosts is under system\Something...

Just use find.

Will be hosts

Anywho.

add -

ServerExtIP LanServerIP(space)
(this line blank, just press enter once)

Switch with what is needed.

OK well i found the hosts files in windows/system32/drivers/etc for any one who has XP and has this problem. I altered the files so it had my external IP and my Lan ip just like this at the end
(my ext ip) (my lan ip)_ <---- thats a space
---and this blank line---

This did not work, i still get the 1017 error and its driving me nuts, yes im behind a router, every one can get on fine, no one crashes I JUST CANT LOG ON *cries like a little baby*
