PEQ : need high level zones to be collected

if you don't know Project Everquest, its goal is to recreate an eqlive like complete database, with all true monsters, quests, encounters, and pathing

we get all the data with the program eqcollector which create logs from datas that are sent by the server when you are playing

we need people who have eqlive chars and who are high level enough and have flags to collect these zones for us :
- solusek ro tower
- pofire
- poair
- poeartha
- poearthb
- powater
- potimea
- potimeb

I can collect from all those zones, what exactly do I need to do?

1rst download last eqcollector here :
http://eqcollector.com/HQ/news

install it, edit config.dat to specify your EQ directory

run it
go into tools/collector
in the upper right of the window, uncheck login and world, just check zone so only the zone datas will be caught

then launch everquest

go in these zones when there is no players there
( if there is always people there, choose a time when there is less players )
sit in a safe spot, aggro nothing, fight nothing, just wait like 30/35 minutes
then zone out, you'll have what we call a pathing log of the zone
it will appear in the eqcollector log window

when you have finished collecting, quit everquest first

then go into eqcollector
choose the log, check rename, uncheck all others, then hit process, it will rename the log
uncheck rename, and check create text dump, hit process, it will create a txt log, it is what we need =)

go in the eqcollector log directory on your hard drive
rename the log like this :
your name-name of the zone-pathing-comments.txt
in the comments specify if there is something special to know, for example if there is the boss of the zone up =)
zip it with the same name

then go in this site :
http://www.peqserver.com/view_files.php?filter=sql

there is a list of zones we need =) ( log-dump/zone status section )

register if you are not, it is needed to upload something

then go in log-dump/upload logs
and upload your logs

that's all =)

we also need raid logs of high level encounters like for example a raid against xegony or fenning ro or those of potime

it is different than pathing logs because to get them you just need to raid while eqcollector is running

try to not die to get only 1 log of the whole event

you can get those logs too by just sitting at a safe spot while someone is raiding in the zone too =)

don't forget to specify it is a raid log in the name and when uploading it

Alright Sandy, I will give it a shot this weekend. I have a 65 Cleric in the strongest guild on the server, but they don't do PoP much anymore, they are focussing on GoD raid encounters, they have pretty much everything from PoP, but I am flagged for all the zones including all of the GoD zones. I'll log on and go exploring, maybe sit in some zones while other guilds are raiding PoP. :)

that is the zone status page. up to date status of all uploaded logs both approved and unapproved.

*they are set to approved after we compile and test them.

We appeciate any help you and anybody else can give. I have a 65 bard but am not flagged for the higher PoP zones. i've been collecting everything else that i can get into.

Another one i think we need is the planes. Hate, Growth, maybe more.

Soto, I took a look at your page and it looks VERY nice. I did notice that some of the large number of collects I did aren't in there. I have a clean pathing on Dreadlands, clean Charkok, etc.

Do you need them again?

how do i convert the txt file to a sql file? and would it be posible to lets say use sutch a log for reviewing pvp battles ??

for logs in generell. will try to provide some. only prob is that i often cant sit 30ish minutes in a zone whit out geting attacked by some ppl :). do u want raid logs in generell like the usual place MT there use a zillion clerics and kill the mob ? or only the ring 10 type raids wer lots of triggers are involved ??

red can you reupload your logs... zip each zones log seperately.

1 zip for pofire 1 zip for powater, etc. and please name the text files with (youname)-(zoneshortname)-(typeoflog).txt

I saved them before i rejected them, so i can put them up myself, but i figure you would want your name attached to them so please can you do it yourself ? we have to keep the zones seperate as opposed to uploading a archive of many zones, for logging purposes.

yes please feel free to upload them. I know TCS has many logs that are not up on the page, (i've uploaded all ive collected as has sandy. but older logs wont be up there.) how recent are the collects?

Uh, I deleted the logs I uploaded earlier so I got a new PoTorment and PoWater - the others were being raided. I also got Thurg, PoEarthB, Netherbian and Butcherblock.

first thing we need for high level zones are pathing logs, it is log where you are alone in the zone while sitting for 30 minutes to get perfect roaming mobs patrols =)

and we need also raids to be able to recreate scrip events, that could be big script events like ring war 10 but it can be just a little where you attack a monster and at a certain % life he spawns some adds etc ...

if you are doing a quest it can be collected too =)

but really we are at a step where we are building the world, so we need in priority pathing logs of those zones, after that in priority raid logs =)

OK, so to get the pathing logs, just zone in, wait for 20-30 minutes and then hit the process button?

well you can get all zones in one sitting.

start up eqcollector. select zone item and mob collecting in the left section, start up eq.

zone into first collection zone. wait 20 - 30 mins. leave. zone to next target zone. wait 20-30 mins, etc etc.

Then when you are done, quit everquest.

select every log in the collector window. make sure to uncheck ALL checkboxes except for rename log. then process.

this will rename the logs with the zone names so you know which you want to keep and which were zones u just traveled through to get to your goal.

delete any non-needed logs. check create text dump. select logs u want dumps of and click process again.

you should be done now. just rename the logs to (yourname)-(zoneshortname)-(typeoflog).txt, zip each one up seperately and you are done.

by the way red i never got your logs again are you going to reupload those raid logs for us?

about pathing
you need to understand that for pathing we need to collect complete patrols, so it can last 5 minute or 40 minutes depends which mob in which zone, but it seems 30 minutes is for most zones enough

you need to understand too that when a mob is aggroed by someone and this player for example zone, we have no way to find if the mob was aggroed or if he was roaming
it's why if you are alone in the zone it is ideal
but for certain zones it is almost impossible, like xp zones for example where there is always at least one group
so at least ensure that when you leave the zone, all monsters killed by the group have at least respawn 1 time, and ensure they are not fighting, in that way you'll have a good pathing log even if there was people fighting there

I did about 90 zone collects back in April for Sandy and the crew. He should have them and if not, I'll send them to you...I'm pretty sure I still ahve them around.

I marked them as clean pathing collects or not via *-clean or *-crappy-*pcs. I did almost all the old world and a few zones in SoV and RoK.

Any chance you would upload all your logs via the website interface at peqserver.com ? Just sign up and send them (10 logs at a time through the upload logs section.

I could just get them in 1 big zip file in email and do it myself, but i figure you would want your name associated on them, since you did all the work =)

** we really need the kael tormax spawn log for sure! because from all the kael logs ive accumulated we have every single npc in kael EXCEPT tormax. )

Ugh, I just went over my file-system and can't find the files. I'll keep looking and see if I can find them. I'll also message TCS and see if he has a copy as I want you to have it and I'd also like to have a copy of them around for my archives.

We had a mishap with a script bug and files were wiped. i have backups of most of the files. but while i was looking i noticed in the database why yours never showed up.

When you upload you MUST select a zone from the dropdown menu for each log. You didnt so they were just sitting there in cyberspace hidden. heh, im glad it happened, now i know that bug and can fix it to require a zone selected.

A question for clarification....

Assume PoFire is at full spawn and I zone in and sit down at the zone in... Another guild zones in and moves past the second castle (3k away from me) and kills all the mini mobs and stuff. I am collecting all of this.... Is the Collector able to snag all the combat abilities, hp, ect of the mobs (that which is necessary for a raid log) still? I was under the assumption that EQ didnt send packets such as that to the client when you were not in range to see them yourself. If it *does* work that way, than I will have no problem snagging all the raid logs you guys need, but if its necessary for me to actully be at the raids as a participant, that would be another story.

Thank ya... and raid logs or not, I will have some spawn logs up of all the high level zones after this holiday weekend ends and the zones stop being so busy ~
