Edit: *(rest deleted as for not RTFM, here is new prob)*

Ok, found the thread I was looking for, put everything in eqhost.txt as

[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5995

now, when I try to login to any server, I crash back to login screen, then get 1017 error after logging back in.

Make sure there are no spaces and you have updated to live.

Yeha make sure there are no spaces at the ends of lines or extra blank lines and set teh eqhost.txt to read only.

I have this exact same problem. It freezes for a few minutes then kicks me to the login screen. When I log back in I get a 1017 error. I'm using windows XP. I patched fully to live. I have no spaces in my eqhost file and it's set to read-only. I have my firewall turned off and norton antivirus turned off. I'm not running a router. I'm all out of ideas. Does the game run if I bought Everquest Classic and then downloaded the rest of the expansions and the patches from the patcher? Any help would be much appreciated.

Expansions might work it shuldnt stop you from playing except for maybe those zones you would need to in the patcher go to the advanced tab and do a complete file check and click all of the expansions. THere are files it didnt download for you yet. Some expansions however may not have all the zone files and you would be stuck in just Oldworld zones.

I just did a complete file check. It didn't download any more files, and I have everything checked off to download. When I tried to connect to a server it still gave me the same problem.

Make sure you are trying to play on the correct version of servers, since you just patched you can only play on 5.7 DR4 servers, don't try other versions because it isn't compatible. And if you have a fire wall running try turning it off.

5.7 DR4 servers are the ones I'm trying to connect to. I have my firewall off and it still won't work. Is it possible that I downloaded corrupt files from the patcher?

No but if the server your trying to connect to has a firewall up and they dont have it configured right you cant login. Try some different servers if you can. I had a firewall up when i was running my server i could login but no one else i had to disable it.

I just tried several different servers--all gave me the same problem.

make sure you have the eqlsclient file http://www.eqemulator.net/eqlsClient.ini

I have the correct eqlsclient file. It still doesn't work. Does anyone have any idea which files I should delete and repatch? (to see if corrupted files are the problem)

I already tried deleting EQgame.exe, eqclient.ini, eqgfx_dx8.dll, and eqmain.dll. (found these files posted by monalin crusader on another thread) I repatched and then changed the eqhost and eqlsclient files, but I still get the same problem. Any suggestions on other files I should delete?
